About Me
Hi, my name is Kara – in my Introduction post, I include a brief background in education. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education and will soon hold a M. Ed in Special Education. I’ve been in the field for almost 10 years, which while compared to some is not much, however I also have been in many different settings and worked with many different very special children. Some who have gotten into my heart and stayed there even after so many years.
I currently work in Denver, CO and I am sorry but due to nature of this blog I will not reveal my current employer, maybe when I am no longer there.
Anyway, I have been married 5 1/2 years to a wonderful computer IT person. You can see his technical blog here. We enjoy traveling and documenting our adventures through photography. Nick is a professional photographer on the side, so most of the photos I use in postings are from his artistic eye. We do not have children, as I consider the many students over the years mine in a way and am not sure I would have the energy to teach and parent at the same time. Commendations to those who do.
As a current special education teacher with previous experience teaching regular education I am available for tutoring any subject, any grade level. I have tutored in reading and math from early to GED prep. My current availability is limited to still working full-time however as I continue to pursue my consulting dream, I expect my schedule to change over the next year or so. If you are interested in a tutoring session with your child please let me know, I also will sit down and coach parents through various aspects of the special education maze.
